in 2020 you could deploy a token with five hundred lines of solidity, paste a telegram link, and the community would show up. no one asked what the "utility" was. no one asked for a pitch deck. no one asked who was on the team, because there wasn't one, and everybody understood that. the team was the telegram group. the team was whoever was awake at 3am talking about the chart.
the logo was a dog. drawn with a mouse, in ms paint, by someone who couldn't draw. it took six seconds. and somehow it was enough to build a culture that outlived everyone who bought it.
that was the whole product. a contract, a chat, a drawing. ownership renounced. liquidity burned. vitalik got sent a bag. the rest was up to the people in the room.
slowly, everyone started doing more. a one-page site became a landing page with a team tab. a team tab became a pitch deck. a pitch deck became a seed round. the seed round invented vesting, and vesting invented cliffs, and cliffs invented "strategic partners," and suddenly the token you were holding had 37 multi-sig signers and an 18-month unlock calendar and a quarterly OKR.
launches stopped being a party. they became a funnel. presale, KYC, whitelist, allocation, vesting, cex listing, market maker, revenue share, "real yield," "points," "season two."
and the memecoin, which was supposed to be the one place left where none of this happened — the memecoin learned to do it too. launched with a 5% dev wallet. "locked" for two weeks. rug. relaunch. reshill. repeat. honest traders started treating the word community like a trap, because it had become one.
we forgot what a community token actually was. so this is that. again.
the name is deliberate. inu is the japanese word for dog. it's also the suffix of every og ethereum community token — shiba inu, akita inu, kishu inu, the whole 2020 pantheon. those tokens were never remembered for their utility; they had none. they were remembered because they were symbols. of a moment, a mood, a chat room, an inside joke that only worked if you were there when it started.
inu is a banner. the simplest possible thing a community can plant in the ground to say we're here. a word every holder recognises. a dog every holder has already seen a thousand times. a ticker that looks right on a candle chart. no trademark battle, no "ecosystem," no "brand strategy." just four letters that mean one thing: community token on ethereum.
the dog on the paper is drawn with two triangles and a smile. that is the logo. it doesn't need to be anything else — when a thing is a symbol, you don't dress it up. you let the people wear it however they want to. paste it in the tg, make it your pfp, draw over it, print it on a t-shirt, ruin it, remake it. it belongs to whoever is in the room.
this isn't a re-launch. it's not a fork. it's not a v2 of anything. it is a reminder: that ethereum was always, at its best, a chain where a group of strangers could pick a dog, pick a ticker, pick a telegram, and build something together without asking anyone for permission. inu is that reminder in four letters and one drawing.
$inu — ethereum's dog, again.
$INU is a clean ERC-20 on ethereum mainnet. no L2, because the homage needs mainnet L1 gas as part of the vibe. the contract is the minimum amount of solidity the EIP allows: transfer, approve, transferFrom. no tax. no blacklist. no pausable. no owner. no mintable. no proxy. no upgrade path. nothing behind a multi-sig, because there is no multi-sig.
at deploy, the full supply is minted once, sent to the pool, the LP is burned to 0xdead, and 5% is sent to vitalik as a thank-you to the chain. after that block, the token is a fossil. nobody — including the deployer — can change anything about it. ever.
there is no way to rug a contract that has renounced, has no tax, has no mint, has no pause, has no proxy, and whose liquidity is already dead at block zero. that is the point. we are not trusting anyone to be honest. we are removing the ability to be dishonest.
there is no way to farm a contract that has no emissions, no staking, no boost, no veModel, no bribes, no merkle drops, no points program, no season. the token does not produce yield. the token is not a claim on anything. the token is a token.
if this is not what you are looking for, that is ok. there are a thousand things being launched today that will do those things for you. go there. this one is for the people who remembered.
this is what we promise to each other, simply by holding this token and sitting in the telegram:
0x…dEaD.
the dog went to sleep. the chat is still open.
